The Shipping Demand

In December 2021, a client from Singapore entrusted us with shipping a batch of smart locks with batteries to Kuala Lumpur from China. Goods origin: Hangzhou, China. The client’s initial shipping plan was to truck transport goods from Hangzhou to Shenzhen first. Then arrange air shipping from Shenzhen to Kuala Lumpur.

Suggestions to the client

Considering fulfilling the commitment with less time and cost for the client under our network advantage, we suggested air shipping the goods from Hangzhou or Shanghai (Nearby Hangzhou) to Kuala Lumpur directly. A two-batch shipping solution. The cost of directly flying from Hangzhou to Kuala Lumpur is much lower than the Hangzhou-Shenzhen-Kuala Lumpur route.

Shipping Process

• Quicker contacted the smart locks factory of the smart locks in Hangzhou by e-mail and phone call: To confirm cargo ready time, delivery method and delivery place.

• Quicker sent air cargo booking form and Hangzhou airport delivery precautions to the factory

• The smart locks factory sent back the booking confirmation

• Quicker arranged cargo booking to the airline and then sent Shipping Order (SO) to the smart locks factory

• Factory transport the smart locks with batteries to the appointed warehouse

Challenges and Solutions

The client’s goods were packaged in cartons, but the airline required palletization according to their standards. The factory couldn’t meet these requirements, so we used our resources to arrange for pre-warehouse staff at the airport to handle palletizing. Due to the pandemic, there was a shortage of staff at the pre-warehouse. The client’s goods, containing both lithium and dry batteries, needed to be separated according to airline regulations, which led to a mix-up during loading and unloading. This necessitated a repacking process to separate the goods onto different pallets. Batteries are DG goods to airline delivery. Air shipping batteries from China to Malaysia need plentiful certifications like UN38.3 report, DG certification and MSDS.

Despite the reduced workforce at the pre-warehouse, which lowered efficiency, we coordinated closely with the airline to complete the task of sorting and palletizing the goods. The first batch was successfully flown on schedule, earning the client’s trust.

Before the second batch’s departure, we actively monitored all operational processes to ensure timely delivery. Thanks to the efforts of our professional customs clearance team, the goods reached the destination airport on time, as requested by the client. The client was very satisfied with our professionalism and service, and entrusted us with all their air and sea freight export needs from China, making us their designated logistics agent in China.
