This is a forwarded clarification from Quicker International Logistics, a forwarder shipping from Ningbo: In response to the recent online article titled “Breaking News! Ningbo Port Shuts Down for 36 Hours, Shipping Companies Issue Emergency Delay Notices”, Ningbo Zhoushan Port Co., Ltd. issued an official statement on the evening of March 27, confirming that the content of the article is seriously inaccurate.

According to the official statement, from March 26 to 27, since Ningbo’s meteorological department did issue warnings for severe convective weather, the actual weather conditions did not impact port operations finally. The port’s operations remained normal throughout.
On the morning of March 25, the port’s southern channel was temporarily closed due to heavy fog, but the northern channel and operational port areas continued to function normally.
After the southern channel reopened on the morning of March 26, 83 vessels were safely organized for entry and exit. On the morning of March 27, the southern channel was briefly closed for 3 hours due to fog. However, with port terminals operating at full capacity and vessels anchored in advance for entry, there were no actual impacts on shipping schedules.
This clarification confirms that the reports of a 36-hour port shutdown and significant disruptions to shipping schedules are false. Ningbo Zhoushan Port, as the world’s largest port by cargo throughput, continues to operate as usual, ensuring the smooth flow of global trade.
